Meditation Leader

ROSE BARNES

You are invited to join Rose on Tuesdays for meditation sessions during SA school terms. Beginners welcome – even if you’ve never meditated before feel free to come along.

Life is full of contradictions, the constant play of Yin/Yang energy.

Whilst I’ve always been aware of and grateful for what life has given me, I’ve also rebelled against the inequity of resources and social injustices that exist in the world. For as long as I can remember I’ve questioned particular social constraints that support imbalance of power. Although my rebellious nature has not always been embraced, it has allowed me to advocate for those who are less privileged, contributing meaningfully to their lives.

A strong desire to share my experiences and learnings with others has taken me to several disadvantaged, remote communities throughout the developing world, offering whatever I can as a volunteer. The most profound and challenging of these was working with a remote, indigenous, Kitchua community in the Amazon jungle in Ecuador.

My long and fulfilling career as a nurse has also given me opportunities to work alongside isolated aboriginal communities, facilitate groups for disadvantaged & abused women and support those who struggle with mental health problems.

Retirement did not dissolve my deep need to contribute meaningfully to the lives of others, so I’m extremely grateful to Skillful Mind for giving me the opportunity to share with others the joy of meditation, which has been a foundation for my own journey through life.

I look forward to the opportunity to connect with new friends I have yet to meet.
